Torry has always had a strong desire to build something of his own, and for the past 16 years, he’s worked tirelessly on his company — which is now finally starting to gain recognition.

“Building a brand is tough, especially with all the competition out there, and doing it alone makes it even harder,” says Torry. His wife Thale worked at Danvik Folk High School for over 20 years but spent her afternoons helping with packing and tidying up. Just over two years ago, she quit her job to join her husband full-time.

“We’ve probably never talked less about work than we do now — ever since we started working together. When the workday ends, we set everything aside and enjoy our free time with workouts, woodworking, walks with Hero (our dog), our kids, and spending time with family and friends.”

When you decide to start something on your own, you have to go all in — and we really did. We mortgaged both our house and our cabin. With four kids (mine and yours) to think about, there was a constant lump in our stomachs. But with hard work, careful planning, and countless sleepless nights, we can now proudly say: we made it! That doesn’t mean we can relax — we still work just as hard and with the same determination, but we’re a bit tougher now than we were 10 or 15 years ago.

Would we do it all over again? Absolutely. For us, financial success has never been the goal — it’s always been about building something meaningful, creating jobs, and proving that with dedication and grit, any dream is possible. Our dream is for Cool Clown to grow big enough that we can hire more people and create even more opportunities.

That’s why we’re now putting our focus on a new venture: Cool Clown — but this time, with a different purpose. Inspired by our own journey, we want to help new entrepreneurs bring their dreams to life.

The idea behind Cool Clown was to create a brand that stands out — rooted in top-tier quality, with a touch of humor and a twinkle in the eye. That’s why every piece comes with its own slogan. For many, the hardest part of starting something is simply taking the first step — especially financially. That’s exactly where Cool Clown wants to make a difference, by making that first step a little easier.

We want to support other entrepreneurs in chasing their dreams. That’s why we’re committing 10% of our own profits to a fund that you can apply to — a way to get help with launching your own business. We know we can’t help everyone, but we hope to grow enough to help some — and maybe one day, help many succeed.
